Old News!Winter Gardens 07Top Local Band07 January 2007 Taken From Councillor Ian Lucas Website :- Last night I went to see Summer Born Wild at the Gold Room - and a superb evening it was. SBW are an outstanding local band, among many bands with enormous potential in Eastbourne. There were around 200 people there, which for the 12th night of Christmas I think was a great turnout, and the evening supported Breast Cancer and the Willow Foundation. The music these guys produce is classy, to say the least. Glen, on both bass guitar and keyboards, as well as backing vocals, and Craig on drums are both excellent musicians, and Owen on guitar and vocals has a superb range. As for the Gold Room - I think it's the one venue in the town that really works for this type of gig. A couple of years ago the roof was mended, and since then the false ceiling has not been put back, and that improves the accoustics no-end. The depth of the room helps as well. This is a band Eastbourne can be proud of. And it reinforces my view that there's so much talent in Eastbourne in the live music scene, that we should really be investing more time into it. It's always been the case since I was a kid in Eastbourne that we've been a poor relation in the live music stakes... So look out for the first 'EBM Live' gig in March, which will be a celebration of local talent, and the first gig of it's type in town, the result of a new working group with some of the key players in town in the local music scene - plenty more info to follow on this soon.
